Short reply? What are you trading. For 'everything' under the sun I recomend IB .. If you just want to trade futures I recomend Infinity Brokerage Services at http://www.infinitybrokerage.com/ 800-322-8559

I use IB .

Can use them alone or do you also need something along the line of Tradestation or Esignal.

Is eSignal basic enough or do you also need the advanced charting option. What about Quote Tracker?

You 'could' use IB's built in charts but they are pretty horribile. I don't know any trader using them today. The first thing I had to do when getting serious was just to shell out the bucks for decent charting.

eSignal is nothing without the advance charting. Don't bother subscribing unless you have it.

The most popular ones are:

TradeStation
eSignal
Sierra Charts
IRT
enSign

They all can be found by doing a quick Google. Trade Station will charge you a bunch unless you also execute with them.

I've never used it so I can not comment on it. Perhaps you can write a review :)

I've been with thinkorswim for two years and they have pretty robust home-grown charting software that they're always tinkering with, no charge.

They're mostly an options house and commissions are a little high($8 r/t), but they send you a monkey when you open an account.
