John Carlson has been trading and investing since 1975. When he sold his business of 23 years, in 2005, he became a real estate agent and a stock trader. The trading was going great for the first couple years, then, in the fall of 07, the stock market began to crumble. (so did the real estate market) At that point Carlson quickly realized that anyone could be a good trader in a strong, bull market. In November, 2007 he got out of all his long positions and became a 'day trader'.
Like many traders Carlson asked himself, “What should I do? Where do I start? What should I trade?” After reading books and articles, attending seminars, joining chat rooms, and trying tools like indicators, or this chart or that chart or multiple charts and still not turning a consistent profit trading – he knew that he needed something different. Geoff Lay has been trading for 7 years. He started out your typical newbie trader, spending hours reading every book he could get his hands on, chasing entries, chasing false prophets and, seeking the "holy grail" using new trading systems, with hard earned capital.
He met Alex six years ago while in an online day trading chat room. Together they would discuss daily trades and strategies. Reven Wood has been a trader for five years and his interest in the stock market began when he was 18 years old. As the night stocker at Fred Meyer (a local grocery store) he would take his break at 5 AM and watch some random news program that had a ticker on the bottom. So, he began writing the ticker symbols down and went home to look them up. He then joined a random independent broker and some random free chat room. In this chat room, there was a man who made trading look easy; every trade was a winner, so it seemed.
After realizing it was much more difficult than it appeared, his interest exploded and he began living and breathing the stock market and much more importantly, the psychology of supply and demand. For four years, he was a personal financial analyst for a very large company and saw the many tricks of the retail side of investing. He joined that company to gain further knowledge and skills for trading, but eventually decided that sales, wasn’t what he was looking for in a job.
After floundering around through small account, after small account and chat room to chat room, he stumbled across Puretick.com in the fall of 2007. He was in the room for about 2 months before blowing out yet another small account. After life changing events in his family life, Wood decided that it was time for him to step up to the plate and stop making excuses as to why he was not in the profession in which he wanted to be: A PROFESSIONAL FUTURES DAY TRADER.
He came back to Puretick in early 2010 and decided to make one last attempt at living his dream. He began falling into the same INSANITY in his trading practices and once again became so frustrated he was about to quit.

I do trade news and this will be available to those that wish to do this with an advantage over most retail traders, however I do not recommend knee jerk reaction trades as they usually serve no purpose. First and foremost I am a trader. I have been a professional trader since 2006 and have been mentoring and teaching for the last two years. I have a deep passion for trading and love to share that passion with others. I trade the ES Futures market as my main source of Income but I also trade the CL oil, 6E Euro, YM Dow, NQ nasdaq as well as keeping an eye on other markets.
I am a married father of three daughters, two step sons, and two grandchildren. I am very grateful to be able to spend my trading days at home and do things with my family that I would never have been able to do without my trading and Puretick. Being able to share this with others and help them have the same success I have is a very important part of my life. In addition to my previous experience, I have had great mentors at Puretick and they have helped me evolve into the trader I am today. Using Alex and Revs’ experience and knowledge has moved me to a whole different level of trading that I am excited to share with my room members on a daily basis.
I have a degree in Engineering and a degree in IT so it is my natural desire to find out how things work and make them better. I have spent countless hours figuring out how to master trading and I’ll admit, searching for the “Holy Grail”. Trading is not something that can be pinpointed to perfection and the Holy Grail is not an indicator, it’s not something you can touch and feel. It’s the understanding of human emotion including greed and fear and having the ability to see when these traders are acting with greed and fear. Doesn’t it make sense that if around 90% of traders are failures and they are acting with strong emotions, that if we can understand what they are doing, we can understand 90% of the trades that take place in the market? Think about it!
You’ll be getting the knowledge and experience from someone who is dedicated to preventing you from becoming part of that 90% losing family of emotional, greedy, fearful traders. It’s time to play on the other team’s side. It’s scary to play in a game where the team you’re playing has 90 people and you have 10, but when you know that those 10 people win the majority of the time, your attitude changes. Using tick by tick information as the trades hit the exchange we can extract valuable information in simple and easy to read ways that gives us an upper hand in winning trades on a regular basis.
My method of trading is to be able to identify these areas in the market quickly and easily and then stack the odds on our side and be able to jump in the market with the smart money when they are about to take money from the rest of the retail traders. I keep the screens and indicators as simple as possible and I am always looking to make it even simpler.
I was on the losing end for years before I figured out that what moves the market is buyers and sells, period. It sounds pretty simple, but when I learned how to extract that information and compile it into an easy to see and understand chart, it complete changed my trading. When that light clicked on and I started becoming a consistently profitable trader it became my goal to help others figure out what I had discovered.
With my simple, holistic approach to teaching and trading, it’s my goal that every trader learns to trade with confidence and become successful in their own right.
By following my trading calls on the ES and other markets that I watch during the day and getting a repetitive learning experience each morning, you too will be able to learn to understand the physics and psychology behind the smart money traders and be a part of the small percent of very, very successful traders. Dave is a former business owner, entrepreneur and IT Director. After a long career in the high tech industry Dave delved into the trading arena and eventually started day trading stocks, ETF’s and options. Since 2009 Dave has been trading the mini futures markets including the Russell 2000, the S&P 500 and the DOW.
Dave has had both formal and informal training across all the various markets he has traded and has been able to apply what he has learned, along with the PureTick trading methodology, to successfully trade the DOW mini futures market.
